Things you absolutely must have:
Ice packs. You need flexible gel ice packs. Have plenty on hand if you don’t get an ice machine.
Walker. You will likely be leaving the hospital with one (it’s often provided to you directly).
Toilet riser. Depending on your height, you may want this to raise the toilet seat to make it easier to get on and off.
Shower chair. A plastic chair for your shower with nonslip feet and no wheels.
Three-in-one shower chair. This portable bedside commode doubles as an elevated seat over the toilet and then triples as a shower chair.
Pillows or wedges to properly elevate your leg for straightening and to reduce swelling.
Bell. 🛎️ In all seriousness, you will want a way to alert people to help you when you need help in the first few days. Have something you know will get their attention— a bullhorn, cowbell, yelling for help, whatever it takes.
